What do you get when you mix 42-degree heat with a bunch of White Label Casinos’ weird and wonderful staff? A little bit of chaos but mainly chill vibes and plenty of H20. Not the Aussie mermaids- just plain old water.
This July, we hosted our Malta team, and the remote workforce that could make it, on an epic sailboat that cruised around Malta. Not too shabby for a Wednesday.
The sailboat in question was pirate-themed, no less. Because…why not? We actually thought we overheard a couple of pirates on board, but it was in fact just our Irish marketing team. Seriously. Ask them to say ‘carpark’. Pirate core. Not only that but we absolutely heard a few impressions of ‘’I am the captain now’’- which… set the tone for the day.
Getting the Gang Together
Events like this are all about getting the team together to let their hair down. One of our company’s core values is ‘Hard work, yes! But we don’t take life quacking seriously.’ and if this ain’t it, we don’t know what is. The day itself was much like the thrill of a school trip, but with fewer permission slips and a lot more jet skis. Our BDM did get in trouble from the bus driver for standing up on the bus, proper school trip vibes.
Dragging the Team out of Bed
Our day started bright and early, with the team gathering at the office at 8:30 am sharp. Clearly we’re a little sadistic as we were met with a few bleary eyes thanks to the previous night’s festivities at our inaugural awards night, The Duckies. Despite the lack of sleep, the energy was high as we boarded the bus to Sirens Quay. As we set sail, the couple of sleepy heads perked right up. Nothing like sailing to dust off a few cobwebs. Oh, and the watchful eye of the HR team and your CEO.
Design your Own (dodgy) Flag
We eventually made it to Comino Island where breakfast croissants made the rounds, for some much-needed sustenance. Upon arrival, we launched into our first activity – a ‘design your own flag’ competition. An arts and crafts moment that brought some of us back to our youth and for others, well, didn’t quite hold the interest. But we get it. The lure of jet skis later in the day was calling their name.
A Woeful Diving Display
Okay that’s harsh. Some were actually impressive. Our next challenge was a diving competition, but in true White Label Casinos style, it wasn’t your typical contest. The challenge was made all the sweeter knowing we captured it all on camera.
Jet Ski Joy
After a morning of creativity and comedy, it was time to set sail to our next destination. A hearty lunch gave us the energy we needed for what was undoubtedly the highlight of the day – jet skiing at Mellieha Bay. This was the bit everyone had been buzzing about for weeks, and it did not disappoint. Despite some questionable driving skills (you know who you are), multiple tumbles into the sea, and the tragic casualty of one very expensive pair of sunnies to the depths of the ocean (afterall, what’s a pirate adventure without a little lost treasure?), everyone agreed that this portion of the day did in fact live up to the hype.
That’s a Wrap
Our pirate-themed boat party was more than just a summer celebration; in true White Label Casinos fashion, it was a chance for our team to bond, let loose, and create lasting memories. From dodgy dives to jet ski joyrides, and all the banter in between, one thing’s for sure – at White Label Casinos, we’ve got the good times down to a fine art. Thanks to Craft Your Event (CYE) for helping us pull off this unforgettable adventure.
